Twilight Princess or Okami... though I much prefer both for their original systems, the gamecube and playbox2, because... the wii is not designed for lefties. 8C

twilight princess was a good game, did you know that on the game cube the fliped the entire world?

on the wii link is right handed to look right with your swinging, but hes normaly left handed so on the wii they changed it back and flipped the world to solve any problems :3

I don't play it often either. I just like buying new things, playing it for three days and then leave it.

I have that game. It is really fun because of everything you get to do. (And the fact that it's a paper mario)

Metroid Prime 3 is entertaining for a while, sort of like a combination between Halo and Myst.

I played it for a few hours, then got stuck on a puzzle and just decided screw it, I'd rather play a real FPS on a system with decent FPS controls.

Wii Play! Not joking. Its perfect for non-serious gamers and its easy to pick up and play. A perfect game for friends.

they actually flipped the wii version~ which I was a little peeved at because he swings in the opposite direction I do, which is what it's not supposed to do.

(I have a lot of hate for the Wii because of non-lefty flip in 300% of their games)

Another good game was Trauma Center : Second Opinion. It doesn't have a whole lot of good plot, but it's fun, and that's all I really cared for.

What are you on about? As far as I'm concerned the best FPS controls out there ARE on the Wii. I'd rather play using actual gun-like motions than flip around a joystick. Oh, and Metroid Prime 3 could hardly be called an FPS. It's more an action adventure game in first person with some shooting with a lot of puzzles.

But you know, have fun on your Xbox.

Xbox and N64 both have better FPS controls than Wii. Triggers on the back, perfectly placed analog sticks, convenient D-pad for switching weapons...

Plus N64 has GoldenEye and Xbox has Halo and Half-Life. What does Wii have? Besides bad ports of COD and MOH, the Wii doesn't have many FPS titles on its side.

The Wii DOES have triggers on the back, just not on Metroid Prime 3, which makes a lot of sense considering that Samus doesn't use a trigger. It also has a d-pad for weapon switching, but Samus only has one weapon so of course she isn't going to switch them... and the whole purpose of the Wii remote is so you don't need another analog stick in the first place. Clearly you haven't played any other FPS games on the Wii.

Okay first off, Medal Of Honor: Heroes 2 was for Wii and PSP. They didn't port it down from the Xbox 360/PS3. Second, the Wii version of Call Of Duty: World At War was weaker, sure, but it wasn't a bad game at all. All it lacked was good graphics (what do you expect?) and weaker online.

Plus, we've got a couple new FPS games coming, The Conduit which is a Wii-exclusive and built from the ground up for the console hits on June 23, and Red Steel 2 (which is going to be waaaay better than the first) is coming in the winter.

But lack of quality Wii FPS titles isn't even the point... the point is that it's a good system to play them on because the controls are simply better.

When I play Half-Life, I get deep into the game. The storyline is intense, the gameplay is amazing... even if the Wii had revolutionary controls, I haven't seen a brilliantly developed game for the Wii that doesn't revolve around the gimmicky swish-and-flick Wiimote. I can't get very involved with FPS games on the Wii because I just can't get into the game while focusing on swinging my controller the right way.

Alfred
05-02-2009, 03:40 AM
How the hell is it gimmicky? Just because you don't know how to properly control it? How come flicking the Wii remote is a gimmick? Why is thumbing joysticks around so much better?

You're right, there are not many deep FPS games on the Wii, that's about the only thing holding it back.

Rigs

Many games use motion controls as a single gimmick.

In fact, it could be said that most Wii games are based entirely around motion controls. I mean, don't get me wrong, I have a Wii myself, but since my friend gave me his old PS2 and I got a used Xbox, I haven't touched the Wii.

Alfred
05-02-2009, 03:47 AM
Why would most Wii games NOT be based around motion controls? That's the point of the Wii, to use its unique controls, not recreate the same gameplay mechanics that have dominated since the NES.

...thus alienating people who want to play video games for extended periods of time, without having to run all over the place?

Who runs all over the place? When I play my Wii I sit down on the couch and play just the same as you do with your Xbox.

Sonic at the Olympic Games was CRAP. I rented that game at blockbuster ( :ohyeah: ) and it was HORRIBLE, the controls sucked. Maybe I'm just not liking sonic that much anymore.
