View Full Version : US BILL S.978
BULLFUCK.
I have lost complete faith in the government. They're thinking about passing a bill that would ban video game clips, tv clips, movie clips and anything similar from being uploaded to the internet. This means that things like:
Good Griefing
Angry Video Game Nerd (!)
Game trailers
ANY clips of gameplay
Clips from TV and movies
Anything related to video games
Would all be banned from being uploaded to the internet and would cease to exist. I will literally fucking cry if they pass this bill, which will get you fucking 5 YEARS in prison and thousands of dollars in fines.
And before Ausbro comes on here and says ">implying that I live in America" the vast majority of gaming clips on YouTube come from America so you wouldn't be able to view them anywhere in the world anyway.
We're unsure if they're going to block videos that come from other countries like the Yogscast.

Either way you wouldn't be able to view most gaming videos because most of them come from the US anyway.

It can't be passed. And never will.
The End.

Unless you like pornography.
Also if the bill gets passed I don't think video games will be pursued as copyright infringement. You cannot copyright video game footage. Cinematics YES, but actual gameplay no because it is a unique and different experience each time you play it.

so we get first amendment rights but lose the ability to show any footage even under parody or reported means from enforced Copyright? it has to be double sided now.
oh well say goodby to youtube and hello random third-world country video hosting site and proxies that allow US citizens to watch these films.

I actually have to agree with Pokerman for once.
Still, leave it to the bumbling guckers in government to come up with stuff like this. Even if it doesn't pass this bill reeks of so much lobbying its rather sad.

I mean, how did the President made his YouTube account? By visiting YouTube for the first time, and then, as a guest view, he scrolled down to see what YouTube is about. I can see that he could have noticed the Entertainment/Gaming section.
But hey, it's just my....idea or something.

Not if you have A-cups.
Who ever came up with the bill has obviously never used the Internet.
Also, last time I checked, CoD even helps you to upload game clips to YouTube. They obviously have no problem with people doing it.

i think your overusing the term 'hot' here
maybe we should make a line up of australian women and put them next to a bunch of women from other places like puerto rico and compare and stuff

Again, there is no copyright on video game footage due to its fluid nature. HOWEVER games heavy with cinematics or ones that use licensed music (like GTA for example) may have copyright issues for other reasons.
This is why video game let's plays are allowed on YouTube but why they are ineligible for partnership considerations.
I do believe many video game companies will be adding a special clause to specifically allow posting videos of their games. Notch stated this on his blog.

Yeah, video game companies have to be against this. It's basically just free advertisement for them.

Yeah, anybody who creates anything enjoyable have to be against this. It's basically just free advertisement for them.
