Does anybody like Skate 2? I just bought it like an hour ago and it seems pretty good. What do you rate it if you have played it?

I played it at a party, way too complicated controls for my taste, but it looks like it could be pretty sick if you got the hang of it.

I'm still gonna stick to Tony Hawk though.

Is it any different to Tony Hawk games?

Way different. Only real similarity I see is that they are both skateboarding games. Overall, Skate looks and feels more realistic, and offers more of a challenge with the controls and stuff. Tony Hawk games are more arcadey and extremely easy to master to me.

I've got it, and it's pretty awesome. I'd give it an 8/10. I don't like how that stupid mountain takes up half the map and doesn't really have anything, other than the dam, to do but going really fast to crash into a car or something.

I'm guessing since the TH games have celebrity endorsement they sell better.

Not to mention that the Tony Hawk games invented the skateboarding video game genre, and they have always, and will always dominate that genre for years to come.

Not necessarily, Rigs. I, personally, as well as a few friends will never buy another Tony Hawk game. The controls are complicated, but you get used to it, and it's ultimately more challenging and fun than the TH games. I haven't had the privilage to play Skate 2 yet, but I just bought my own copy of Skate today. I've been playing it with my friend for some time, and it's awesome. I can't wait to get it, although the $50 will take some time to get together. :dog:

I once played it, the controls were strange for me, I'm gonna stick to Tony Hawk.

I know, Skate 2 is a pretty sweet game. It's better than TH games!

Skate games are awesome... my friend has Skate and Skate 2 and he says he prefers Skate 2.

Still, Tony Hawk should never be considered an inferior series to the Skate series. Without TH, there would be no Skate. It's like saying Sony is superior to Nintendo. Without Nintendo, there would be no PlayStation.

That's terrible logic, that's like saying a Honda Civic isn't as good as a Ford Model T.

Well would there be a such thing as a Honda Civic if Ford Model Ts hadn't set the standard for consumer cars?

No.

That's not the point though, the point is: which is better? The simple answer is Skate, it doesn't matter which was the "original". There's skateboarding games that are even earlier than Tony Hawk anyways.

Tony Hawk revolutionized 3D skateboard games. Skate may have more complicated and realistic controls, but what it all boils down to is which game is more loved? Skate may be popular with a new generation of Xbox fanboys, but Tony Hawk will always be a better party game, a better game to play if you aren't a serious gamer, and overall a better gaming experience.

I'm not talking about the new TH games like Proving Ground. But pick up a PS2 and a copy of Underground and you'll see what I mean. Who cares about graphics? Who cares about realism? At the end of the day, it's the fun factor that counts, and I wouldn't want to have realistic controls if instead I could have a great time screwing around with my friends.

You're right, and Skate is more fun. Even its career mode is incredibly engaging.

Go to a party. Unless COD is playing on the TV, you'll almost always see a Tony Hawk game. The people playing it, and the people watching, will always be having loads of fun. You know why? It's mad simple, anyone can get the hang of Tony Hawk in a matter of seconds. So go off and play Skate alone in your basement, but I'll be having a blast hanging out with my friends playing Tony Hawk.

EDIT:
But tbh people have different preferences in video games. I love GoldenEye, but most people would rather play Halo. So I guess both Skate and Tony Hawk can coexist peacefully.

And I remembered the name Alfred and learned that you're Racer Why, a pretty cool guy and not at all the person I thought you were (a guy obsessed with the latest and greatest).

Yeah, don't worry Rigs, as much as I disagree with you on video games, you're pretty sweet.

I played the original Skate. Heard Skate 2 was even better. I personally didn't like the campaign to the game, but online was fun.
