In this thread, post a few lines of lyrics that hit close to home(that have a lot of meaning close to you.)

"Son I Loved You At Your Darkest..." - As Cities Burn

"Turn your thoughts to the roots
As we've all been caught up in the branches
With roots above and branches below" - The Devil Wears Prada

"Life was all a dream....so put me to sleep" - Before Their Eyes

I don't have a lot of happy songs that speak to me. My repertoire includes:
Superman (It's Not Easy) by Five For Fighting
Fast Car by Tracy Chapman
The Mountains Win Again by Blues Traveler

Also,

"When the power of love
Exceeds the love for power
The world will finally know peace."
-I See Stars

"I used to roll the dice,
Feel the fear in my enemies' eyes...
Listen as the crowd would sing,
"Now the old king is dead, long live the king!"
One minute I held the key,
Next the world was closed on me
And I discovered that my castle stands
On pillars of sand, pillars of sand...

From Viva La Vida, Coldplay

When I was seven I absolutely adored that song. Now whenever I think of that song I think of you. It's actually pretty creepy.

Tears In Heaven- Eric Clapton
Imagine- John Lennon
How To Save A Life- The Fray
With or Without You- U2
Somewhere Only We Know- Keane

My Paper Heart is such a good song.
As well as Which To Bury; Us or The Hatchet?

When I'm angry, "Mailbox Arson" by Alexisonfire is a good song to listen to.

Your mail's not safe in this town
I strike a red bird on your face
and pour the kerosene in your mouth
I watch the match fall down your throat
I burn all your precious bowels
I watch the smoke pour from every crack
And breathe in your secret lives
All your bills, pay, and welfare cheques
But I don't think I can stay for long
There's lots more mail that's not yet ash
Your mail's not safe in this town
Im taking this town back
I watch the smoke start to rise
One hundred homes
One hundred fires
Everything you own now burns away
This town is no longer mine
It's fucked with me for the last time
How I wish that I could see your face
When the sky is streaked with plumes
Know that it's my signature
Upon this wretched fucking city
Mailbox Arson
My sweet revenge
Strike a match and burn away-
Every tie that binds me to this place
When the smoke clears,
You can consider us even
Your mail's not safe in this town
Im taking this town back
I watch the smoke start to rise
One hundred homes
One hundred fires
Everything you own now burns away
This town is no longer mine
It's fucked with me for the last time
How I wish that I could see your face

Underoath - Some Will Seek Forgiveness, Others Escape

Good song, have you heard "Too Bright To See, Too Loud To Hear" off their new album? It's musically similar and it has lyrics that are meaningful for me as well.

I don't know any song for me, but this would be for my mom's aunt. The story is that she got breast cancer, and being a Jehovah's Witness, she refused proper treatment and relied on that God would help her. The cancer killed her.

Metallica-The God That Failed

Pride you took
Pride you feel
Pride that you felt when you'd kneel

Not the word
Not the love
Not what you thought from above

It feeds
It grows
It clouds all that you will know
Deceit
Deceive
Decide just what you believe

I see faith in your eyes
Never your hear the discouraging lies
I hear faith in your cries
Broken is the promise, betrayal
The healing hand held back by the deepened nail

Follow the God that failed

Find your peace
Find your say
Find the smooth road in your way

Trust you gave
A child to save
Left you cold and him in grave

It feeds
It grows
It clouds all that you will know
Deceit
Deceive
Decide just what you believe

I see faith in your eyes
Never you hear the discouraging lies
I hear faith in your cries
Broken is the promise, betrayal
The healing hand held back by the deepened nail

Follow the God that failed

Nothing Else Matters by Metallica touches really deep.

Smooth by Santana is what I listen to when I'm down, always works. :)

Wasn't that James Hetfield's aunt or something?

Anyway, I'd have to say probably Smooth as well.

No, his mom and dad. They both died in the same was as my mom's aunt.
