my friend says you need to have the box to send it in to get fixed, can anyone clarify this for me?

and does it cost anything

I've gotten it once, sent it to Microsoft, got it back 3 weeks later with a month free. Kept it for another year then it got the 2 Red Rings of Death, witch perminatly put it 6 feet under. Sooo, I bought an Xbox Elite.

You should look it up on xbox.com. I think they send you a prepaid box first.

If you're still under the 3 year warranty it will be free, but if the warranty has ended I think it's $100.

If you have an old 360 it probably will. But if it's from the newer generation you shouldn't worry.

Guess I'm one of the lucky ones.

That's just because Nintendo takes pride in making blocks of concrete that can put pretty pictures on a television set if you plug the right wires into it.

Well me and my friend were playing GH: Metallica and it kept messing up so we just used mine, then later that night it did it again and then when we tried to turn it on the second time it had the RRoD. He just stole his cousin's.

Sadly, I don't even have an Xbox 360. But my friend got it like 5 times. The only problem is he sucks at taking care of it.
